from a schoolboy‘s project to a global player in wintersports
This winter, we are looking forward to a very special anniversary at Shuttleberg: AbsolutPark is turning 25!
What started as a ‚hobby‘ among some school friends has evolved over the years into one of the most popular and innovative snowparks worldwide.
Thanks to the dedication of Seppi Harml, his friends, and his family, the first kickers were already created in 1997 at the
Frauenalm lift (now the Powder Shuttle area): „Of course, it wasn‘t easy to establish a snowpark in a region full of successful ski racers. Some of those in charge were influenced by traditional ski racing, and at the beginning, we needed a lot of patience and passion. With the first hours of snowcat time we received, we were able to build a small snowpark, still called ‚Boarder Park‘, in the winter of 97/98,“ said Seppi. „By the third season (1999/2000), after moving to the Hubertus Lift (now the Absolut Park area), the number of lift rides had already multiplied, and the Absolut Park was born.
Once established, there was no holding back for AbsolutPark: Shortly after the millenium, the two main events - Spring Battle and JibKing - were introduced, in 2010 ZSAEP Experience was added.
Heavy investments were also made in the infrastructure: After the build of Chill House and Absolut Shuttle in 2006, the terrain for ‚The Stash‘ was opened up at Powder Shuttle in 2008. In 2012, the Kicker Line was brought to a whole new level with earthworks in summer. In 2016, snowmaking was secured long term by building a new reservoir pond above the Medium Line, furthermore the park offering was extended by the Cross Run on the Kleinarl side.
Of course, the best park can only be as good as its staff, who are constantly planning, building and maintaining it. Around 15 shapers, machine drivers and marketing employees are securing a smooth operation throughout the season. The Absolut Park freeski- and snowboard team - consisting of local and international pro riders - is providing valuable input to them.
Absolut Park at Shuttleberg is therefore well equipped for the next 25 years, for great sportive moments, countless unforgettable hours with lots of fun for riders of all levels.
New ideas are already in the works for this season!
Look forward to a new park line at the Lumberjack Shuttle, innovative event upgrades at Jib King, Spring Battle, and the ZSAEP Experience, as well as team weeks with our key partners.
There will also be a special edition of the Absolut Park collection, along with exclusive ski, snowboard, and goggle models from our partners.
Additionally, get excited for special obstacles like a 25-meter Challenger Rail with plenty of extra competitions throughout the season.
